International Development: Progress, Regress or Stasis?

We are delighted to inform you of an exciting opportunity for you and your students.

The University of East London (UEL) Students, in partnership with the European Association of Development Research and Training Institutes (EADI) are pleased to invite you to the University’s second student led undergraduate conference for development.

Students will be given the unique opportunity to debate their work in a public forum, receive feedback from academic scholars, meet students from a range of international universities and network with potential employers.

This open conference will centre upon the themes of Development and International Politics. Students and recent graduates (those who have or will graduate this year) from related fields are encouraged to enter. We welcome various forms of presentation, including poster presentations, short documentaries and photo exhibitions as well as written papers.

Students are encouraged to prepare a presentation based on one of the following themes:

· War, Conflict and Migration

· Power and Gender Inequalities in Society

· Governance, Institutions and State Building

· Civil Society, Social Movements and Grassroots Organizations

· Importance and Influence of NGOs

· Population Growth, Resources, Environment

· Sustainable Development, Energy, Climate Change

· Food and Agriculture, Food Security

· Cultural and Social Transformation, Role of Social Media

· European and International Human Rights Law/ Theories of Justice

· Tourism Impact

· Millennium Development Goals
