Rafał Riedel is a professor at Vienna School of International Studies (The Diplomatische Akademie Wien) and Opole University. He was also a Guest Lecturer at Sankt Gallen University in Switzerland and guest researcher at ARENA (Centre for European Studies) at the University of Oslo, Gastdozent at TUC and Wissenschaftslische Mitarbeiter at ETH Zürich. Professor Riedel is a Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the scientific quarterly ”Studia Europejskie – Studies in European Affairs” published by the Centre for Europe University of Warsaw.
PhD holder in Political Science, Jean Monnet Professor (in EU Studies), graduated at the Silesian University and Economic University in Katowice; habilitation obtained at Wrocław (Breslau) University. In 2022 – full professorship title obtained from the Scientific Excellence Council, Warsaw
Previously engaged in educational and research programmes, as a scholar, co-organiser or fellow, at European University Institute, ETH Zurich, Oslo University, Open Society Institute, Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst, Marie Curie Fellowship Programme, Max Planck Institute, TU Chemnitz, European Values Network, Fundacji Rozwoju Systemu Edukacji – EEA / Norway Grants. Scientific interests: European integration process, institutions and policies, Europeanisation, energy security in Europe, democratic deficit, transitology, considology and other problematic in the field of political science, media and communication studies.
